Disclaimer for Handbooks and Manuals

If campus or university policies are cited or summarized in unit
handbooks or manuals, the source of those policies should be carefully
documented. In addition, it must be made clear that the original
sources of policies take precedence over the information given in the
handbook. Policies and procedures can change from time to time. As
such, faculty and staff should be directed to original sources so that
they may have the latest information.

In order to avoid misunderstandings over which version of a policy or
procedure is correct, units should include the following paragraph in
appropriate departmental handbooks or manuals, either as an addendum
for those that have been distributed to faculty and staff or as a part
of any manuals that are currently being developed.
