The Keene Sentinel (New Hampshire, Nov. 12) -- “Out of Sequence: Underrepresented Voices in American Comics” runs through Dec. 6 at Keene State College’s Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery. Part of a national tour organized by the U. of I.’s Krannert Art Museum and born of a book of the same name by Damian Duffy and John Jennings, the traveling exhibition is a collection of comics from as early as 1922 through today.

Music Alumnus and "Presidents Own" Band Member Still Plays at 90

The Washington Post (Nov. 12) -- Johannes Rasmussen, an alumnus of the U. of I. School of Music, played cornet in the U.S. Marine Band for more than 30 years, and performed regularly at the White House. But when Rasmussen, now 90, reminisces, it’s the great musicians he’s known that he is most eager to recall. Speaking of Albert Austin Harding, a friend of John Philip Sousa and a director of bands at the University of Illinois, Rasmussen said: “What a conductor. Wow.” more.
