Academic Enrichment Programs

East St. Louis Action Research Project (ESLARP)

A Community Assistance and Development Project guided by Action Research, Service Learning, and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Faculty and students from several campus units collaborate with each other and East St. Louis neighborhood groups on highly tangible and visible projects that address the immediate and long-term needs of some of the city's most distressed communities. To learn more about ESLARP, visit the web site.

International Programs

A variety of study-abroad programs are available in the Arts at Illinois to give students in all academic units international experience. To learn more about our international programs, visit the Special Programs section of our Student Handbook.

The FAA International Arts Minor complements all majors at the University of Illinois. The FAA International Arts Minor may be taken by students in any UIUC college outside of FAA, and students in FAA. If you have questions about the International Arts Minor, contact our Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs.

Internships

Students in the College of Fine and Applied Arts are encouraged to supplement their classroom education through internships. Students need to discuss opportunities with their advisor prior to acceptance of an internship if the student wishes to earn academic credit for the internship.
The FAA Career Services Office can help students find and prepare for internship experiences.

The James Scholar Honors Program

The James Scholar Honors Program in the College of Fine and Applied
Arts is designed to allow students to demonstrate superior academic
performance and further distinguish themselves through unique
educational experiences. Named after one of the University's most
distinguished past presidents, Edmund James Scholars enjoy many
benefits, including: the opportunity to take designated honors courses;
priority registration for classes; notation of James Scholar
designation on academic transcripts; expanded access to library
facilities; and participation with faculty in independent study and/or
undergraduate research projects on topics of special interest.

Outstanding entering freshmen are invited by letter to participate
in the program. After the completion of the first semester any student
with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better (A = 4.00) may join.
