The primary mission of the BFA and MFA degree programs in Dance is the professional preparation of choreographers, performers, and teachers who possess standards of excellence, a breadth of understanding in the discipline, and the ability to function in a variety of contexts to contribute to the art form within a global society.

The Department is also committed to the enrichment of the cultural life of the campus and community, and asserting a leadership role in the profession through creative and scholarly research and service in national organizations.
